The simple things in life.

Humbling experiences

*Note to self*

Do not place cacti beside the bed - especially near the tablelamp where you can jam your palm smack centre of the bulbs in the dark trying to get the light.

Plucking needles out with a tweezer is no fun.

(... should have read the superhero contracts more carefully...)

Theme of the week

What did I drink at Bar None? - Wonderwoman

What do I feel like? - Wonderwoman

What am I? - Wonderwoman

Hopefully this feeling of superiority and narcissism continues for an extended period of time to come (when you think that nothing can get you down:)

Otherwise it's back to just being (suPer)womAn :P hyukz

Losing grip

Unkymoods is gone... AGAIN.

I am a control freak - I cannot deal with such unreliability in my life.

The search for a new mood indicator web site begins.

If music be the food of love

Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson

Can't you see that it's just rainin'
There ain't no need to go outside

But baby, you hardly even notice
When I try to show you
this song It's meant to keep you
From doin' what you're s'posed to
Like wakin' up too early
Maybe we could sleep in
I'll make you banana pancakes
Pretend like it's the weekend now

And we could pretend it all the time
Can't you see that it's just rainin'
There ain't no need to go outside

But just maybe, laka ukulele
Mama made a baby
I really don't mind the practice
Because you're my little lady
Lady, lady love me
cos' I love to lay here lazy

We could close the curtains
Pretend like there's no world outside
And we could pretend that all the time
Can't you see that it's just raining
There ain't no need to go outside

Ain't no need, ain't no need
Can't you see, can't you see

Rain all day and I don't mind
The telephone singing, ringing, it's too early
Don't pick it up
We don't need to
We got everything we need right here
And everything we need is enough
It's just so easy
When the whole world fits inside of your arms
Do we really need to pay attention to the alarm
Wake up slow, wake up slow

:
:
We've got to wake up slow

Truth is...

... keep hurting something and it will eventually die.

In loving memory...

Taiwanese bonsai Woody, whose age remains indeterminately between 3-4 years old, passed away quietly after spending less than two months in Singapore. Although only a baby in bonsai-years, Woody bore his illness silently and with much resilience.

The rapid demise of Woody's fellow plants (i.e. myriad cactuses in my room) after his departure is testimony to his character.

Still, his passing was not unexpected, as my brother so clearly pointed out on 22nd June 2005: "The bonsai has no chance."

Woody will be sorely missed.

Survey:

To Almasy in The English Patient, “... it was propinquity. Propinquity in the desert. […] For him, all relationships fell into patterns. You fell into propinquity or distance.”

In other words, he thinks relationships evolve by virtue of proximity - physical closeness that is.

The story actually postulates that there are really 2 kinds of relationships: the personal, intimate type that can withstand such things as LDR (and possibly weapons of mass destruction) and those that form out of having to be near one another so much (e.g. being within a 5km radius of each other, twice a week during ECA practice or 5 times a week at work).

Do people fall in love or do they fall close to the idea of love?

Some say there's no such thing as love, only companionship - the habit of always having someone there to rely on for everything.

While other friends point out that it's probably just easier to track relationships that have failed because of distance and conclude so.

What's your take on this:

Habits form after two people get together. But does habit a relationship make to begin with?

Life portrait

Found this on the official dilbert site.

If you can relate to it and you are

a girl : well done!

a boy: well...

M.I.A

I begin first by stating that right here, right now, there's nothing like a strong cup of coffee to kick start the day (cos I sure as hell need it to get by - my daily caffeine fix .. hmmm)

While I go on feeling like a druggie M.I.A has, to me, taken on less its usual meaning of 'missing in action' and more 'mayhem induced absence'.

Have not had the luxury of taking time out to indulge in my neurotic thoughts and idle brain activity, hence the lack of entries on this here blog. While I can't really complain that life ain't good, neither can I say that it's good , which is the usual conundrum. (If we can never be happy, I suppose we can try to be less unhappy. )Or not :P

Suffice to say that working life really kills my brain cells if the alcohol hasn't already.

[ok, I don't really know where all this rambling's going, but I guess that just poignantly proves my point - whatever that is...]
